Walt Disney Tarzan Movie Collectible Mousepad and MRT tickets

I think almost everyone is familiar with the story of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. For those who are clueless, Disney's 1999 award winning animation successfully introduces the wholesome character to a generation of kids who are frankly more familiar with Transformers and Power Rangers then with the trials of a scantily clad wild man in a rainforest.

Promotional MRT (train) ticket for
the Tarzan movie in Singapore

Shipwrecked on a deserted island as a baby, Tarzan was adopted and raised by an ape named Kala. Living amongst gorillas, he believed that this was his family, but on an expedition Jane Porter is rescued by Tarzan. He then finds out that he's human and must make the difficult decision as to which family he should belong.....

Sandra Bullock Movie MRT tickets (Miss Congeniality n Hope Floats)

The Miss Congeniality movie opened in Singapore in 2001 on Valentine's Day and I managed to catch the movie during its run.  Sandra leads as a klutzy FBI agent who has rather unrefined mannerisms.  When a serial killer announces a beauty pageant to be his next target,

the Bureau sends her undercover to take part in the Miss United States beauty pageant.  She undergoes a miraculous makeover at the hands of her top handler and eventually also solve the case.  This is an entertaining movie with good laughs perfect for a lazy afternoon but not exactly thought-provoking stuff..
As for the movie Hope Floats, it is from 1998  and I understand it has more substance compared to Miss Congeniality but I have not watched this movie so no comments.

UIP Titanic Movie Coffee Table Book/ Titanic MRT ticket

I was fortunate to win this lovely Titanic coffee table book from a UIP contest in 1997.  I have taken the effort to include some pages of the book for all to enjoy.  There are notable quotes from the movie accompanying each page with scenes from the movie.  Titanic was THE movie to watch in 1997! Like it or hate it, chances are that you would have at least watched this movie at least once.  In fact it was reported that there were scores of people who loved the movie so much that they watched it more than 10 times!  I would say this is more of a chick movie but nevertheless must admit I was touched by the romance between Jack and Rose.  I enjoyed the movie very much and think it really deserved to win all the 11 Oscars.  How many times have I watched Titanic?  Twice, that's enough for me, thank you.

Since I also have this Titanic MRT ticket, I will just post here. This is a limited edition design and sold like hotcakes due to the popularity of the movie. In fact it sold out within the same day it was issued. I was lucky to buy 1 for my collection.

A Bugs Life MRT tickets

A set of 2 MRT tickets issued for use in Singapore and promoting the 1998 animation movie A Bug's Life from Disney Pixar. I don't know how the folks at the studios do it, but they surely are a talented bunch overflowing with creative juices to come up with this totally amazing and enjoyable movie. Story is about ants on a particular anthill who had all along accepted their fate and submitted to a bunch of bullying grasshoppers. Every spring the ants would gather food and leave it for the grasshoppers to enjoy. One year, a bug named Flik by accident drops the seeds into the river. The grasshoppers give the ants one last chance to find the food by the next season. Due to a misunderstanding, the ants place their misguided hope in a bunch of misfit circus bugs for help in getting rid of the grasshoppers. But all is not lost as together they come up with a brilliant plan and succeed in driving off the grasshoppers and regaining their freedom. The characters are lovable and there are a lot of funny moments in the movie. Do watch this fine animation movie if you have not already done so, I guarantee you won't regret it.

Toy Story 2 MRT Tickets

I look at my lovely pair of Toy Story 2 MRT cards (Singapore)issued in 1999 to promote the movie and I am instantly reminded of how much I enjoyed this animation film and the first Toy Story movie from Disney Pixar. I was struck then by the truely stunning animation and the captivating storyline. I imagined that the first Toy Story movie was good but the sequel is even better! My only regret is that I did not get to watch this movie in glorious 3D. That was in 1999. I believe the effects would be mind-blowing in the present day with most theatres having upgraded and invested in state of the art sound systems and digital 3D. It's really worth watching again. I tell you this is not a kid's movie, its a classic.

Spice World the Movie MRT Ticket

Special edition tourist souvenir ticket issued in 1998 by SMRT to promote Spice World the Movie. I don't think many tourists got to buy these tickets as they were quite popular with the local collectors lol. I do hope that someday we can have nice movie designs on our ex-link cards, the present designs are just plain ugly.

Star Wars Episode1 MRT Tickets

Limited edition travel cards issued by the SMRT (Singapore Mass Rapid Transit) to promote the Stars Wars Episode 1 movie. Shown here are 2 designs featuring Darth Maul and Queen Amidala. The reverse of the cards show information for the character and the printing is beautiful. If you are a Star Wars fan in Singapore, you would probably own these cards as well.
