Promotional Movie Postcards with Advertisements

First up is a Legally Blonde postcard with an advert for Fresh Look colour contact lenses. Why did Ciba Vision choose this particular movie to advertise their product? I have watched this movie, there was definitely no conspicuous use of contact lenses. I suspect its something more subtle related to the central character in this movie. Reese Witherspoon pays the ditzy blonde on a mission to win back her beau, who happens to break up with her before he packs his bags to leave for Harvard Law School. She rallies her resources and manages to get into the prestigious institution in her own way. Perhaps that deserves a Fresh Look?

Well, what do you need when you are in a race? Speed, stamina and endurance. Yes, of course you need all those attributes. But what do you need most of all? A good pair of shoes or maybe....sandals. The makers of healthy footwear products, Scholl seems to think so and have chosen the Rat Race movie to advertise their range of health sandals. Sandals are not exactly suitable for the race but it'll pass.

This movie postcard from 2000, How The Grinch Stole Christmas was chosen by entertainment portal Asia.E! Online to advertise and create awareness of their website. This asian version of popular entertainment website E! Online was launched in 1999. The website targets English-speaking markets in Asia and featured news and reviews from Asia and around the world. There were few entertainment websites back then, and I regularly visited the website for my fix of entertainment news.

Eddie Murphy as Dr Dolittle is on this postcard, the movie of the same name from 1998. There's an advert for Spaggedies, an Italian Restaurant that still has a presence in Singapore. Frankly I don't know why the restaurant chain chose this movie about talking animals for their ad. Maybe that No Reservations movie starring Catherine Zeta-Jones would be more appropriate?

Down with Love is a romantic comedy that I enjoyed very much and I think the pairing of Ewan McGregor with Renee Zellweger is absolutely sexy. Obviously EverSoft, the maker of skin and body care products and boutique hotel, Hotel 1929 shared the same view as they held a joint promotion for this movie.

On yet another postcard, this is Renee Zellweger in her most famous role as Bridget Jones. What is it with her, she seems to be a magnet for women's products? Here we have advertising for Nivea, the maker for skin and beauty care products. For body firming treatment cream no less. Not very flattering I think.

The Full Monty is a movie I did not particularly enjoy, due in part to the terrible British accent. I know this movie got a lot of rave reviews but for me the movie was just plain boring. Hush Puppies had a movie tie-in promotion with free movie tickets for purchase of their range of underwear. I didn't like the movie but the Hush Puppies'  tagline is clever, don't you think so?

Sandra Bullock is in this Miss Congeniality postcard with an advert for bods bodynits. Sandra is really klutzy in this movie but she definitely has a nice figure that I suppose many women would die for. If you ask me , I would agree wholeheartedly that she is beauty queen material. Style? She got plenty of that.
