Spy Kids 2 Movie Notebook

This movie notebook is a large A4 size and promotional item for the Spy Kids2: Island of Lost Dreams. The notebook cover is a reflective silver that captures the light and shines brightly, perhaps to match the futuristic theme of the movie, what with all the new-fangled spy gadgets and toys.  In the hands of a spy(kid), I'm  sure this notebook wouldn't look out of place at all.
Anyhow, this notebook is way nicer than my Spy Kids2 Movie folder.

Fantastic Four Movie Notebook

Another promotional item for the Fantastic Four movie is this fantastic looking notebook featuring the characters from the movie. By the way this notebook was printed by Samsung as a movie tie-in and to create awareness and visibility for their brand. This clearly reflects the confidence of the Korean electronics giant in the undeniable appeal of the Fantastic Four to keep the cash registers in their stores ringing merrily.

The Four Feathers Movie Notebook

I guess those guys and gals in the A&P Dept finally got sick and tired of the usual run-of-the-mill promotional movie notebooks. So during brainstorming, some bright spark suggested something different. Different but not too different. In the end they stuck with the notebook, only this time the notebook is made thicker to look like a book with a canvass cover to boot. They probably thought of it then as an elegant or even clever design for the movie set in 1884.
The truth is that the notebook doesn't look great at all. I'm wondering why not just save the trouble and give out FOUR FEATHERS instead, that would mean saving a bundle on the advertising costs and look a lot more presentable. Think about it, four feathers to promote The Four Feathers movie. I will gladly take those feathers but oh please make sure they're packed in a really nice box thank you.

Hero (Japanese) Movie Notebook. Who is Takuya Kimura?

Do you know who Takuya Kimura is?  Who's that?... I would have rewarded you with a blank look if you had thrown me that question.  And would you have given me the incredulous look that says 'Hello, you don't know Takuya (木村拓哉)? Have you been  staying on Earth all this while?'  Ok, I have to admit I don't know who the hell this guy is.

For someone who is not into Japanese pop culture, you have to pardon my ignorance. But while I would hardly be bothered if he was standing right next to me on the train, the huge turnout of ladies attending the movie preview of Hero on a fine weekday evening apparently did not of share my lack of enthusiasm.  From the moment the pretty-boy lead appeared on the big screen, the ladies were obviuosly besotted with Tasuya, ooh-ing and aah-ing loudly at his antics.  Bear in mind that these are not teenage girls I'm talking about, they were matured ladies in their mid 20s to early 30s decked out in office attire and really this was something that doesn't happen regularly in Singapore! About 15 minutes into the movie, it finally dawned on me that this was the same guy in the Gatsby ad with all the funny hairstyles.  Turning to my companion, my suspicions were confirmed and he was indeed the same person. And I also learned that Takuya is a Japanese celebrity, member of the immensely popular band SMAP with legions of fans around the world.  Hmm, ok so he actually sings as well.. What, so you want to know what the movie was all about?  I'm sorry, I was too engrossed with the numerous close-ups of Takuya on the big screen and paid scant attention to the storyline. Well, I've already shown you the notebook. If you really want to know, you'll just have to google it yourself.
