Sandra Bullock Movie MRT tickets (Miss Congeniality n Hope Floats)

The Miss Congeniality movie opened in Singapore in 2001 on Valentine's Day and I managed to catch the movie during its run.  Sandra leads as a klutzy FBI agent who has rather unrefined mannerisms.  When a serial killer announces a beauty pageant to be his next target,

the Bureau sends her undercover to take part in the Miss United States beauty pageant.  She undergoes a miraculous makeover at the hands of her top handler and eventually also solve the case.  This is an entertaining movie with good laughs perfect for a lazy afternoon but not exactly thought-provoking stuff..
As for the movie Hope Floats, it is from 1998  and I understand it has more substance compared to Miss Congeniality but I have not watched this movie so no comments.

28 Days Movie Baseball Cap

28 Days is another forgettable movie from the year 2000 with Sandra Bullock in the lead role as a columist who has a serious drinking problem.  After wrecking a limousine at her sister's wedding, she is given two choices by the judge, either a term of 28 days in jail or rehab.  She chooses rehab but refuses to acknowledge her drinking addiction or partake in any of the treatment programs.  However, after gradually getting to know the other people in the program, she finally opens up and starts to re-examine her own life. The navy blue baseball cap has the words 28 Days stitched in orange and is made in the Philippines.

UIP Titanic Movie Coffee Table Book/ Titanic MRT ticket

I was fortunate to win this lovely Titanic coffee table book from a UIP contest in 1997.  I have taken the effort to include some pages of the book for all to enjoy.  There are notable quotes from the movie accompanying each page with scenes from the movie.  Titanic was THE movie to watch in 1997! Like it or hate it, chances are that you would have at least watched this movie at least once.  In fact it was reported that there were scores of people who loved the movie so much that they watched it more than 10 times!  I would say this is more of a chick movie but nevertheless must admit I was touched by the romance between Jack and Rose.  I enjoyed the movie very much and think it really deserved to win all the 11 Oscars.  How many times have I watched Titanic?  Twice, that's enough for me, thank you.

Since I also have this Titanic MRT ticket, I will just post here. This is a limited edition design and sold like hotcakes due to the popularity of the movie. In fact it sold out within the same day it was issued. I was lucky to buy 1 for my collection.

Gala Premiere Batman Begins Carrier Bag

I attended the Gala Premiere of Batman Begins organised by DBS Bank and these specialy commissioned bags were given out to invited guests at the event.  The carrier bag does not look like it can take a lot of weight and I did not want to risk damaging this item so straight it went into my collection right after the movie.
Dimensions of the carrier bag:
(L) 49.5cm x (B) 10cm x (W) 27.5cm

Pink Panther 2 Movie Photo Frame

  • The Pink Panther 2 movie photo frame is shown here.  I watched the 1st Pink Panther movie back in  2006 and did not really enjoy it.  The movie relied heavily on visual gags, mostly embarassing situations created by the bumbling Inspector Clouseau played by Steve Marin.  The main problem with the movie?  It was just trying too hard to be funny and to tell the truth, the jokes got tiresome and the movie too painful to watch.  For the sequel, I didn't find it worthwhile to spend my time and money watching this second instalment as I suspect  it would probably be similar to the earlier movie with the same lame jokes.  I would say I have fonder memories watching the classic Pink Panther cartoons!

Batman Begins Movie Water Flask

A water flask from the 2005 movie Batman Begins. The story starts from the beginning, narrating Batman's childhood and how he develops a phobia for bats after falling into a cave with swarms of bats.  When his parents get killed by a mugger partly due to his phobia, he blames himself for their deaths.  To be honest, I don't really like this Christian Bale version of Batman, its really too dark for me.  My fav Batman movie is Batman and Robin.

The Incredibles Movie Disk Holder

Shown here is a disk holder from the 2004 Disney Pixar movie The Incredibles licensed to Singtel.  What's the movie about?  Its about this dynamic duo, Mr and Mrs Incredible who were once the superheroes of Metroville, saving the city from crime and battling evil on a daily basis.  However, they are forced to retire and lead civilian lives with their three children after lawsuits brought about by disgruntled people they've saved.  Mr Incredible is totally unhappy with his "normal" life and jumps at the opportunity to play hero again when he is approached by a shadowy organisation.  All is not what it seems and it takes concerted efforts from this family of superheroes to rally together and save the world.
Seen the teaser?  I have watched the trailer umpteen times but still find it amusing.  Maybe its just me.

What Women Want Movie Glasses. Yeah sure, that's what they really want!

This pair of drinking glasses promoting the 2000 romantic comedy What Women Want used to be so lovely, but what a pity that eventually they got oxidized and I did not find the opportunity to use them at least once.  Not that I could think of a special reason to use them... wouldn't that be asking for trouble?  Just imagine bringing out these glasses after that fulfilling dinner to serve the specially prepared cocktail to your better-half.  Smiling, you hand the concoction to her and she notices the words inscribed on the glass. Taking it as a cue, she starts listing out what she really wants.  What starts out as a perfect evening ends up ruined.  That would be really sad.
